William J. Dugan Jr. was raised in Nashua, New Hampshire. After graduating from Nashua High School in 1955, Bill joined the U. S. Marine Corps on January 25, 1956.

Following recruit training at MCRD, Parris Island, SC, he had assignments taking him to Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, NC; Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii; Beaufort, South Carolina; Futenma, Okinawa; and Danang in the Republic of Vietnam, as an Aircraft Maintenance Chief.

In 1969, he was reassigned to the MCAS, Beaufort, South Carolina, followed by a tour of duty again in Chu Lai, Vietnam. From 1970 to 1974, Bill was assigned to recruiting duty in Boston, Massachusetts. His last active duty assignment was back at MCAS, Beaufort, SC until retirement on July 31, 1977.

His unit assignments included VMFA-251, 333, 122; VMGR-152; HAMS-32, 13, 31; and VMFA-312. Other assignments and positions held by Bill include Nuclear, Biological, Chemical NCO and Reenlistment NCO.

Bill's medals and awards include the Good Conduct Medal; Recruiting Ribbon; Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V; Vietnam Service Medal; Presidential Unit Citation; Meritorious Unit Commendation; Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation; the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon; and the National Defense Service Medal.

Following retirement from the Marine Corps, Bill was employed as a Sales Clerk at a men's clothing store from 1977 to 1980. From 1980 to 1990, he was an instructor for the Marine Corps Junior ROTC Program at Waltham High School in Waltham, MA. Since 1993 to present, Bill has been an instructor for the Navy Junior ROTC Program at Obryant High School in Boston, MA.

Bill holds a degree in Business from Nathaniel Hawthorne College in Hudson, NH. He and his wife Priscilla, currently reside in Litchfield, New Hampshire.
