ROBERT C. CANRIGHT
First Sergeant, U. S. Marine Corps (Retired)

 

Robert C. Canright joined the U. S. Marine Corps in July 1950 in Fort Worth, TX. Following recruit training, his assignments included: Drill Instructor; Guard/Education NCO; Military Police/Shore Patrol; Sea Duty; Senior Orderly/Chauffeur; Engineer Equipment Operator/Chief/Instructor; Platoon Sergeant; Platoon Leader; Recruiting Duty; Inspector-Instructor Duty; and First Sergeant. Robert retired from active duty as a First Sergeant in July 1976.

After retirement from the Marine Corps, Robert enrolled as a full-time student at El Paso Community College, El Paso, TX, majoring in Mid-Management. He was then employed by microelectronics firm in shipping/receiving and later as a Material Expeditor. Robert earned his Associate in Arts and Science in Mid-Management and Industrial Management in 1980. He was then employed by Tri-State Equipment Company in El Paso as a Shop Foreman. He was also employed by Aides Medical Rental & Supply as a Warehouse Manager/Purchasing Agent during 1982-1983. From 1983 to 1990 he was employed again by Tri-State Equipment Company as a Parts Manager. In 1990, Robert relocated to Mesa, AZ where he became an Assistant Manager of a Chevron Food Mart, then later Assistant Manager at a Texaco Star Mart.

Robert reached full retirement in November 1992.

Robert has been active in the Marine Corps League since 1977, holding several leadership positions. He is currently the National Vice Commandant, Southwest Division of the Marine Corps League. Robert is also a member of the Disabled American Veterans; the 3rd Marine Division Association; the Veterans of Foreign Wars; 1st Marine Division Association; the American Legion; Charter Member of the Marine Corps Association; Life Member of the U. S. Seagoing Marine Association; and Life Member of the Marine Corps Drill Instructors Association.
